Software Assurance

From 1 February 2016, all Com.X Gateway and PBX products ship inclusive of Software Assurance. All these devices are ready to engage with Wanderweb Connect and Talk services (www.wanderweb.net)!

What is Software Assurance?

Software Assurance includes:

  • Access to all product (major and minor) software revision updates, as made available from the official Far South Networks repository
  • Products become “Wanderweb ready” through access to the latest “Unified Software release”, revision 1.4
  • 3rd line technical support from Far South Networks
  • 2nd line technical support from distribution partner

Thus the customer is “assured” access to all new features and functions made available from the Far South Networks online repository for the total validity period of its s/w assurance.

Software assurance is valid for 1 year (365 days) from the date of purchase.

Note:  Separate maintenance contracts become obsolete with rev. 1.4.x as this is implicit within the Software Assurance package.

Hardware Warranties

Extended warranties (EW) may be purchase for application to Far South Networks hardware products.

Products who’s hardware warranty has expired, cannot be renewed!

Extended warranties can be purchase in 1 year increments, up to a maximum of 3 years.

Software Warranties

The current major s/w release for all Com.X Gateway and PBX devices is rev 1.4.x (includes 1 year Software Assurance (SA) by default).

The table below outlines the T&C’s, status and support for each s/w release.

All devices with valid software maintenance will have:

  • Access to 3rd line, Far South Networks technical support
  • Access to software updates from the Far South Networks online repository (only for that major s/w revision licensed to that CPE device), during the devices maintenance active maintenance period only.

RMA Procedures

Far South Networks undertakes to service defective hardware under RMA via its distribution partners and provides software and firmware updates in resolution of software issues, provided the product in question is still under warranty.

EOL products returned for service under RMA, will require the purchase of a Software Assurance contract (this ensures they are returned to customer with software revision 1.4.x).

Products returned for service under RMA, but which still include a valid maintenance contract, may serviced and returned with:

  • Software rev 1.3.x, at no additional cost
  • Software assurance, costed on a pro-rata basis (annual Software Assurance contract less the remaining valid monthly maintenance period)
