Product Information
Comma iTA (Intelligent Telephony Adapter) - Is a flexible and comprehensive telephony interface solution for:
- Asterisk based PBX
- Contact Centre and
- Gateway installations
Overview
- Asterisk telephony applications, built on commodity computer servers, couple with Comma iTA’s via a standard Ethernet interface and an efficient TDM over Packet transfer protocol.
- The Asterisk server thus becomes a pure network appliance.
- Provides dedicated voice processing hardware thus off-loading critical, channel related processing from the host server, while providing integration to legacy telecom infrastructure.
- Supports the deployment of large, feature-rich solutions over a distributed and scalable architecture.
- It is possible to combine multiple iTAs and/or multiple servers in a single system.
Benefits
- Cost effective – compared to similar PCI-based adapters or external Gateway devices
- Seamless expansion - by connecting additional Comma iTA devices to LAN.
- Distributed deployments – over Ethernet LAN infrastructure & TDMoIP or TDMoE transport.
- Robust design – hardware includes power cross and secondary surge protection devices.
- Hot swap – reduce platform down time. Replacing Comma iTA’s is quick and painless as Comma iTA firmware and configuration is stored on the server only. No need to replace PCI cards!
Features
- All PSTN telco interfaces supported, PRI, BRI, FXO, FXS, in a 1U rack mount enclosure
- High quality audio:
- hardware based echo cancellation
- timing synchronisation (fax & modem support), no slips
- Near carrier grade FXS interfaces (3km, REN3)
- Simplfied maintenance: Device discovery and boot over LAN network
- Ethernet interconnect for flexible and scale-able deployment
- Surge protection: Robust & reliable against power surges & lightning strikes with secondary protection devices within hardware
- ICASA certification
Administration
- Management: Comma Proxy Manager (CPM) resides on Asterisk host and manages one or more attached Comma iTA’s.
- Configuration: Configuration files and firmware image reside on Asterisk server and are sent to Comma on startup.
- Status: Status is monitored by CPM and status changes are logged.
- Field Upgrade: Firmware upgrade by changing image on host server and configuration file. Programmable Hardware upgrade by download and upgrade over network.
